The bustling little seaside town of Shediac is primarily known for its warm beach water and a certain giant lobster. But for us, it is also the birthplace of our company.
It was back in 1948 when Shediac resident – Mr. Leo Vienneau – decided to setup shop and bring his brand of insurance to town. It was a very different time, where $0.25 would get you a couple loaves of bread, and $15-20 bucks would get you a basic 6-month auto insurance policy! These early humble beginnings would eventually lead to a tiny office stashed away in the back of an electronics store in downtown Shediac.
Fast forward to the mid-1970’s. New ownership brought an invigorated energy, along with a new office location on the east end of Main Street. The company really came into its own during the next couple of decades thanks to strong leadership and an ever-increasing number of and dedicated staff.
Our Shediac office remains our head office to this day, with over 30 passionate employees working from this location who still embody the old-school values of Service and Protection.
Over time, Vienneau Insurance would eventually expand its South-East NB footprint into Saint-Antoine, Bouctouche, and Dieppe.
A little Shediac Fun Fact (say that 5 times quickly!): Wikipedia claims that the name of our popular local dialect “chiac” possibly comes from “Shediac”. Not hard to imagine a Shediac-headquartered company adopting a chiac slogan like “Worry Pas”!
